2023 TURKEY TROT HELD AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL THIS PAST SUNDAY

11-19-2023)

Approximately 100 participants ran/walked either the CROP /Turkey Trot 2.57 mile or 1.7 mile shortened variation of the longer course on a rainy Sunday, the 19th of November, 2023. Turkeys and pumpkin pies were awarded via random drawing after the run. All donations collected will be utilized by CROP and LA Cares charitable organizations to help the needy.

THE BEST TIME PREDICTORS FOR THE 2023 PACE RACE SEASON

The best time predictors for the 2023 Atomic City Road Runners Club race season (the top 5 predictors are recognized for their10 best run predictions where delta time totals added up to the lowest amount in seconds compared with all the other Club members utilizing the same format. Delta time being the difference in seconds between the participant's stated predicted time for a run and the actual recorded time for that run. The winners were awarded cash prizes):

THOMAS HAS PERFECT PREDICTION IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(10-3-2023)

Sean Thomas had a perfect prediction in the last pace race of the 2023 season held on the Canyon Rim Trail. He predicted 24:00 and finished in that time. Other accurate predictors were: Zach Medin with a 1 second differential; Felix Candia at 6 seconds off; Roxana Candia recording a 10 second difference; and Lynn Bjorklund with a 14 second differential as well as the best female finisher in the 3 mile distance at 23:46.

On the 1 mile course Jesse Woodroffe was the top finisher with a time of 8:12 and the first female finisher was Denise Robertson at 13:02.

The best finisher in the 3 mile distance was Paul Geimer with months old Iris Geimer recording a 18:57.

The next race will open the 50th season on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Canyon Rim Trailhead on East Road (State Route # 502) across from the Co-operative Market. 1 and 3 mile paved courses will be available.

KUNSBERG HAS PERFECT PREDICTION IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(9-26-2023)

David Kunsberg had a perfect prediction in the weekly pace race held on the Lower Water Canyon Trail by estimating a time of 27:58 and finishing the race at that time. Other accurate predictors were: Zeke Wilmot at 7 seconds off; Peter McNiff with a 11 second differential; Ryan Smeltzer recording a 15 second difference as well as being the top finisher in the 3 mile distance at 25:06; and Chris Michel at 20 seconds off.

On the 1 mile course 11 year old Lily Nolan was the best finisher with a time of 12:22 and the first male finisher was 5 year old Edwin Bujack at 13:32.

The first female finisher in the 3 mile distance was Madeline Harms recording a 29:23.

Next week's race will be the last race of the 2023 season and will be held on October 3rd, 2023 at 6:00 PM starting at the Canyon Rim Trailhead on East Road (NM State Route # 502) across from the Co-operative Market. 1 and 3 mile paved courses will be available.

DARLINGTON IS TOP PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(9-19-2023)

5 year old Millie Darlington was the best predictor in the weekly pace race held by the tunnel near the traffic circle between North Mesa and Barranca Mesa with a 15 second differential off her predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Tony Borek at 19 seconds off; Mark Bjorklund with a 20 second difference; David Kunsberg recording 24 seconds off; and Ted Atkins, Senior with a 30 second differential.

Felix Candia was the top finisher in the 1 mile course at 10:59 and Katie Gattiker was the first female recording a 11:39.

In the 3 mile distance Jan Velechovsky was the first finisher with a time of 26:42 and Lynn Bjorklund was the best female at 28:08.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 at 6:00 PM on the Water Canyon Trail which is located 2.7 miles on the left from the junction of State Route # 4 and Pajarito Road and headed West on State Route # 4 towards Bandelier National Monument. 1 and 3 mile trail runs will be available.

KUNSBERG IS BEST PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

David Kunsberg was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held on the Canada Bonito Trail up by the ski hill at 9 seconds off his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Jan Velechovsky with a 47 second differential; Tony Borek recording a 126 second difference; Jacky Atkins at 150 seconds off as well as the first place finisher on the 1 mile course with a time of 16:29; Eric Anderson with a 153 second differential and also the top finisher in the 3 mile distance at 21:57.

On the 1 mile course Paul Geimer and months old Iris Geimer was the first male finisher recording a 18:18.

Madeline Harms was the best female finisher in the 3 mile distance at 29:59.

Next week's race will be held on on September 19th, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the parking area just to the left after heading North on North Mesa Road after going through the traffic circle at the end of Diamond Drive between North and Barranca Mesas near the tunnel under San Ildefonso Road. 1 mile paved and 3 mile trail runs will be available.

ANDERSON AND GEIMER TIE FOR BEST PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(9-5-2023)

Eric Anderson and Paul Geimer along with months old Iris Geimer had a tie for top predictor honors in the weekly pace race held at Pinion (Rocket) Park in White Rock at 9 seconds off their predicted time. Anderson was also the first finisher in the 3 mile distance with a time of 20:24. Other accurate predictors were: Jan Velechovsky with a 16 second differential; 2 year old Alex Smeltzer with his father Ryan recording a 21 second difference; David Kunsberg at 33 seconds off; and Catherine Hensley with a 36 second differential.

On the 1 mile course Holly Walker was the best finisher at 7:37 and the first male finisher was Steve Daly recording a 10:57.

Nikol Strother was the top female finisher in the 3 mile distance with a time of 26:07.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at 6:00 PM and will start at the Canada Bonito Trailhead on Camp May Road just past the ski hill Lodge on the opposite side of the road. 1 mile paved and trail runs and 3 mile trail run will be available.

PARKER IS BEST PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(8-29-2023)

Gannon Parker was 6 seconds off his predicted time for top predictor in the weekly pace race held at the trail at the end of Range Road. Other accurate predictors were: Tony Borek with a 30 second differential; Elizabeth Atkins at 49 seconds off; Ryan Smeltzer with a 64 second difference; and Teddy Atkins, Junior recording 70 seconds off.

On the 1 mile course Priscila Rosa had a time of 7:50 for top finisher and Steve Daly was the best male finisher recording a 9:56.

Eric Anderson was the best finisher in the 3 mile distance at 23:32 and the first female finisher was Holly Walker with a time of 35:45.

Next week's race will be held on September 5th, 2023 at 6:00 PM starting at Pinon (Rocket) Park in White Rock on Sherwood Boulevard across from Smith's. 1 and 3 mile paved courses will be available.

SMELTZER IS TOP PREDICTOR AND A BEST FINISHER IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(8-22-2023)

Ryan Smeltzer was the best predictor in the weekly pace race held on the Aquatic Center Trail at 4 seconds off his predicted time as well as the first finisher in the 5K trail distance with a time of 26:46. Other accurate predictors were: Ted Atkins, Senior with a 9 second differential and was also the best male finisher on the 1 mile paved course recording a 23:42;Tony Borek at 18 seconds off; Holly Walker with a 24 second difference; and Cliff Stanley at 39 seconds off.

On the 1 mile paved course Catherine Hensley was the top finisher with a time of 16:21.

Priscila Rosa was the best finisher on the 1 mile trail course at 11:41 and Conor Galvin had a time of 13:18 for best male finisher.

On the 5K trail course Maddie Harms recorded a 31:50 for first female finisher.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023 at 6:00 PM and will be held at the end of Range Road just past Guaje Pines Cemetery. 1 mile paved and trail and 3 mile trail runs runs will be available.

BJORKLUND IS TOP PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(8-15-2023)

Mark Bjorklund was the best predictor in the weekly pace race held on the West end of the Canyon Rim Trail with a 7 second differential off his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Tony Borek at 38 seconds off; Gannon Parker with a 50 second difference; Sean Thomas recording a 54 second differential; and Roxana Candia and David Wilmot tied at 57 seconds off and Roxana also being the top female finisher in the 3 mile distance at 25:43.

On the 1 mile course Priscila Rosa was the best finisher recording a 8:57 and the first male finisher was Teddy Atkins, Junior at 9:40.

Eric Anderson was the top finisher in the 3 mile distance with a time of 19:39.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 at 6:00 PM starting at the Aquatic Center trailhead at the parking lot of the Aquatic Center at the junction of Canyon Road and Central Avenue. 1 mile paved and trail and 3 mile trail runs will be available.

HARMS IS TOP PREDICTOR AND A BEST FINISHER IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(8-8-2023)

Maddie Harms was the best predictor with a 7 second differential off her predicted time in the weekly pace race race held on the trail across from the Laboratory"S" Site. She was also the first female finisher on the 3 mile course with a time of 35:07. Other accurate predictors were: Teddy Atkins, Junior at 39 seconds off and also the best finisher in the 1 mile distance at 11:28; Jan Velechovsky with a 58 second differential; Janette Darlington at 66 seconds off; and 2 year old Robin Bujack and Bob Darlington tied at 69 seconds off.

Jacky Atkins was the top female finisher on the 1 mile course recording a 14:23.

In the 3 mile distance Lukas Zavorka was the best finisher at 26:27.

Holly Walker was the top finisher in the 3 mile road course with a time of 28:34.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the West end of the Canyon Rim Trail near Smith's Marketplace and behind McDonald's by the auto parts store. 1 and 3 mile paved courses will be available.

SMELTZER IS BEST PREDICTOR AND A TOP FINISHER IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(8-1-2023)

Ryan Smeltzer was the best predictor with a 9 second differential off his predicted time as well as the top finisher in the 3 mile run with a time of 23:59 in the weekly pace race held on the Power Line Point Trail. Other accurate predictors were: Zeke Wilmot at 12 seconds off; David Kunsberg with a 23 second difference; Sean Thomas recording 38 seconds off; and Holly Walker with a 59 second differential and also the best female finisher in the 3 mile distance at 31:59.

On the 1 mile course Teddy Atkins, Junior was the first finisher with a time of 9:21 and Eri Kardoulaki was the top female recording a 10:43.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at 6:00 PM on the trail opposite the Laboratory "S" Site on West Jemez Road (NM Route # 501). 1 and 3 mile paved as well as 1 and 3 mile trail runs will be available.

MEDIN HAS PERFECT PREDICTION AND A TOP FINISHER IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

12 year old Adrian Medin had a perfect prediction for his estimated time as well as the first finisher in the 1 mile race with a time of 7:15 on American Springs Road up in the Jemez. Other accurate predictors were: months old Iris Geimer and her father Paul Geimer at 6 seconds off; Priscila Rosa and Steve Daly with a tie at 9 seconds off their predicted time and Priscila also being the best female finisher in the 1 mile distance at 9:57 ; Connor Orrison with a 18 second differential; and Zeke Wilmot recording a 32 second difference.

On the 3 mile course Lukas Zavokua was the top finisher recording a 23:37 and Lynn Bjorklund was the first female with a time of 25:39.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at 6:00 PM on the Power Line Trail outside of White Rock. The trailhead is located approximately 3 miles from the junction of State Route # 4 and Pajarito Road and turning right from Pajarito Road at that junction and heading East on State Route # 4 on the left or can gotten to alternatively by turning left at the junction of State Route # 501 (West Jemez Road) and State Route # 4 (The Back Gate) and heading West on State Route #4 for approximately 10 miles on the right. 1 and 3 mile trail runs will be available.

GEIMERS' ARE TOP PREDICTORS IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

Months old Iris Geimer and father Paul Geimer were top predictors in the weekly pace race held out on North Mesa at the North Mesa Picnic Grounds with a 9 second differential from their predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Mark Bjorklund at 20 seconds off; Ted Atkins, Senior recording a 33 second difference; Priscila Rosa with a 51 second differential; and Roxana Candia at 58 seconds off.

On the 1 mile course 12 year old Adrian Medin was the best finisher at 7:29. The first female finisher was Holly Walker recording a 9:05.

In the 5K race Eric Anderson was the top finisher with a time of 20:35 and Adrienne Hetrick was the best female recording a 22:10.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 at 6:00 PM on American Springs Road which is located off State Route # 4 East up in the Jemez approximately 1.6 miles on the right side from the junction of State Route # 4 and State Route # 501 (West Jemez Road) (The Back Gate) and taking a right on to State Route # 4 East at that point. 1 mile and 3 mile runs will be available.

SCOGGINS AND THOMAS TIE FOR TOP PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(7-11-2023)

Warren Scoggins and Sean Thomas tied for top prediction in the weekly pace race held on the Burnt Mesa Trail in Bandelier National Monument at 3 seconds off their predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Connor Orrison with a 8 second differential; Maddie Harms at 13 seconds off as well as the best female finisher in the 3 mile distance at 32:47; Chris Michel recording a 24 second differential and also the top finisher in the 1 mile race with a time of 9:53; Jan Velechovsky with a 46 second difference.

Holly Walker was the first female finisher in the 1 mile distance at 10:51.

In the 3 mile race Erik Anderson was the top finisher recording a 21:41.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the North Mesa Picnic Grounds on North Mesa Road next to the water tower on North Mesa. 1 mile paved and 5K hybrid distances will be available.

FISHER IS TOP PREDICTOR AND BEST FINISHER IN THE 5K DISTANCE

(6-27-2023)

Will Fisher was the best predictor as well as the top finisher in the 5K race held in the Quemazon Development with a 15 second differential from his predicted time and a finish time of 23:10. Other accurate predictors were: Jan Velechovsky at 16 seconds off; 13 year old Anders Medin and father Zach Medin tied at a 36 second difference; Eri Kardoulaki with a 48 second differential as well as the best female finisher in the 1 mile distance with a time of 11:04; Paul Geimer with a 59 second difference.

12 year old Adrian Medin was the top finisher in the 1 mile race at 7:31.

In the 5K distance Adrienne Hetrick was the first female finisher recording a 32:43.

There will be no pace race on Tuesday, July 4th,2023, the Fourth of July holiday. The next scheduled race will held on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023 at 6:00 PM on the Burnt Mesa Trail in Bandelier National Monument which is located approximately 1.6 miles on the right on State Route # 4 East after taking a left from the junction of State Route # 4 and State Route # 501 (West Jemez Road) ( known as The Back Gate). 1 and 3 mile trail runs will be available. Another reminder will be sent out in the interim period between July 4th and July 8th.

KUNSBERG IS BEST PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

David Kunsberg was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held in White Rock on the Blue Dot /White Rock Canyon Rim Trails with a 1 second differential off his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Paul Geimer with 2 second difference as well as the best finisher in the 3 mile distance recording a 19:02; Valerio Pinchetti at 16 seconds off; Cliff Stanley with a 27 second differential; and Jan Velechovsky at 29 seconds off.

On the 1 mile paved course 11 year old Oliver Saenz was the top finisher with a time of 6:40 and the best female was Edith Acosta at 9:18.

13 year old Anders Medin had a time of 8:23 for first finisher on the 1 mile trail run and Priscila Rosa was the best female recording a 10:37.

In the 3 mile distance Maddie Harms was the top female at 31:07.

Next week's race will be held on June 27th, 2023 at 6:00 PM and will be located in the Quemazon complex starting on Esperanza Road in front of the Montessori School. It can be gotten to by taking Diamond Drive North and turning left on North Road and taking a left into the Quemazon Complex and the first right on to Esperanza Road. 1 mile paved and 5K hybrid distances will be available.

BOREK IS BEST PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(6-13-2023)

Tony Borek was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held on Rendija Road with a 19 second differential off his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: 12 year old Adrian Medin at 42 seconds off as well as the best finisher in the the 1 mile distance with a time of 7:14; 13 year old Anders Medin with a 72 second difference; Jan Velechovsky at 93 seconds off; and Priscila Rosa with a 97 second differential and the top female finisher in the 1 mile race recording a 9:59.

In the 3 mile race Paul Geimer was the best finisher with a time of 22:41 and the top female was Adrienne Hetrick recording a 27:19.

Next week's race will be held on on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Overlook Park in White Rock. There will be 1 mile paved and a 1 mile and 3 mile trail run. The pave course will be out and back to the Overlook Point. The trail runs will go to the Blue Dot trailhead and the White Rock Canyon Rim Trail out and back. The start and finish will be at the Overlook Playground on Overlook Road. This will provide plenty of parking, bathrooms, shade, and a playground.

HAWK HAS PERFECT PREDICTION IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(6-6-2023)

Cheryl Hawk had a perfect prediction of 20:00 in the weekly pace race held in White Rock at Pinon Park on the bike path. Other accurate predictors were: Holly Walker and months old Iris Geimer at 9 seconds off; Mark Bjorklund with a 18 second differential; Eric Anderson at 21 seconds off as well as the best finisher in the 3 mile distance at 19:39; and Lindsay O'Brien with a 27 second difference.

On the 1 mile course Denise Robertson was the top finisher recording a 12:53 and Cliff Stanley was the first male at 15:20.

In the 3 mile distance the best female finisher was Madeline Harms with a time of 32:25.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 at 6:00 PM on Rendija Road which can be gotten to by taking a left at the 90 degree turn on Barranca Road on Barranca Mesa at the Park and going into the canyon at approximately 1 mile and a quarter a little past the shooting range. 1 mile gravel and 3 mile trail runs will be available.

WOODROFFE IS TOP PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE

(5-23-2023)

Laura Woodroffe was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held at East Park with a 8 second differential off her predicted time. She was also the best female finisher in the 3 mile distance recording a 22:51. Other accurate predictors were: Elizabeth Atkins and Lynn Bjorklund tied at 9 seconds; Ryan Smeltzer with a 10 second difference; Travis Gibson at 17 seconds off; and David Kinsberg with a 18 second differential.

In the 1 mile run 12 year old Levi Gibson was the top finisher at 7:04 and the best female finisher was Citla Nava recording a time of 17:32.

In the 3 mile distance Paul Geimer was the top finisher at 18:31.

The pace race location for Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 will be at Pinon Park (Rocket Park) in White Rock on Sherwood Boulevard across from the White Rock Smith's supermarket. The race will be held on the trail adjacent to State Route #4. 1 and 3 mile paved distances will be available.

GEIMER IS TOP PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(5-16-2023)

Paul Geimer was 5 seconds off his predicted time for top predictor in the weekly pace held out on Barranca Mesa using the Deer Trap Mesa Trail. Paul was also the best finisher in the 3.6 mile trail distance with a time of 24:05. Other accurate predictors were: Aurea Rojas with a 13 second differential; Edith Acosta at 36 seconds off; Ryan Smeltzer recording a 37 second difference; and Eric Anderson at 63 seconds off his predicted time.

On the 1 mile paved course Felix Candia was the first finisher at 10:27 and Denise Robertson was the top female with a time of 12:01.

On the 2 mile trail run 12 year old Levi Gibson was the first finisher at 18:37 and Maddie Harms was the top female with a time of 22:12.

Adrienne Herrick had a time of 32:24 for first female finisher on the 3.6 mile trail distance.

Katie Gattiker was the best predictor in the weekly pace race held at Fireman's Park at 45th Street and Arizona Avenue at 5 seconds off her predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Catherine Hensley with a 18 second differential; Travis Gibson at 19 seconds off; 11 year old Luke Gibson recording a 21 second difference; and Cliff Stanley at 30 seconds off his predicted time.

Catherine Hensley had a perfect prediction in the weekly pace race held on the Canada del Buey Trail in White Rock at 19:00 minutes. Other accurate predictors were: months old Iris Geimer with mother Holly Walker at 3 seconds off; Laura Woodroffe with a 5 second differential as well as the best female finisher in the 3 mile distance at 23:03; 13 year old Zach Gibson recording a 9 second difference; and Jan Velechovsky at 13 seconds off.

On the 1 mile course 12 year old Levi Gibson was the first finisher with a time of 6:35 and the top female was Eri Karoulaki recording a 10:12.

Paul Geimer was the best finisher in the 3 mile distance at 19:01.

ACOSTA IS TOP PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(4-25-2023)

Eliverio Acosta was the best predictor in the weekly pace held on the trail adjacent to the Rodeo Arena on North Mesa at 4 seconds off his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: 11 year old Luke Gibson with a 21 second differential; Travis Gibson at 28 seconds off; Eric Anderson recording a 29 second difference; and Mary Knaak with a 35 second differential.

On the 1 mile course 13 year old Zach Gibson was the first finisher at 6:20 and Madeline Harms was the top female with a time of 8:40.

Paul Geimer was the best finisher in the 3 mile distance recording a 18:23 and Liz Peterson was the first female at 27:55.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 at 6:00 PM on the Canada del Buey Trail in White Rock on Meadow Lane just West of the Chamisa Elementary School. 1 and 3 mile runs will be available.

CAPODAGLIO IS TOP PREDICTOR IN WEEKLY PACE RACE

(4-18-2023)

Giacomo Capodaglio was the best predictor in the weekly pace race held on the road in lower Bayo Canyon at 7 seconds off his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: 13 year old Anders Medin and Madeline Harms with a tie with a 9 second differential; Eugenya Simakov and Tony Borek tied at 10 seconds off; Mary Snow recording 12 seconds off; and Elivcrio Acosta and Valerio Pinchetti tied at 21 seconds.

On the 1 mile course 12 year old Adrian Medin was the best finisher at 7:03 and the top female was Priscila Rosa recording a 9:28.

Paul Geimer was the top finisher on the 3 mile course at 20:27 and Laura Woodroffe recorded a time of 22:58 for first female finisher.

Next week's run will be held on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023 at 6:00 PM and will start on the trail just North of the Rodeo Arena on North Mesa in the horse stables area. 1 and 3 mile courses will be available.

VELECHOVSKY IS TOP PREDICTOR IN FIRST PACE RACE OF THE OPENING OF THE 49th SEASON

(4-11-2023)

Jan Velechovsky was the best predictor in the pace race held on the Canyon Rim Trail at 8 seconds of his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: David Kunsberg at 9 seconds off; 13 year old Anders Medin with a 27 second differential; Mary Knaak recording a 32 second difference; and Aurea Rojas at 37 seconds off.

On the 1 mile course 12 year old Adrian Medin recorded a time of 7:07 for the best finisher and Katie Gattiker was the first female at 10:16.

Paul Geimer had a 18:11 for first finisher in the 3 mile distance and Adrienne Hetrick was the top female finisher with a time of 21:02.

Next week's race will be held on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at 6:00 PM near the bottom of Main Hill Road (NM State Route # 502) and can be gotten to by taking a left just before the NM State Route # 4 junction to White Rock off Main Hill Road. The race will start at the beginning of the road to the pollution control plant in Bayo Canyon. 1 and 3 mile runs will be available.
